“Memorializing vs. Historicizing: Confederate Monuments and the Contested Past.”
On Feb. 28, 2018, I had the honor of participating in a YSU symposium, held at the Steel Museum the history, legacy, and future of Confederate monuments. The panel was moderated by Donna DeBlasio and featured Tiffany Anderson and Traci Manning.
I spoke about the lessons we might learn from the history of statues to communism and fascism in Central Europe and the connection of those concerns to present politics at home.
